Worley has entered into an agreement with Liquid Wind to provide design and engineering services for the development of the NorthStarH2 e-methanol facility in Östersund, Sweden.

The facility, which is being developed on behalf of Uniper, aims to produce over 100,000 tons of e-methanol annually. The feedstock will help decarbonize shipping and chemical industries.

The company’s focus during pre-FEED (front end engineering design) will be on the balance of plant, which encompasses all supporting systems and infrastructure necessary for the facility’s operation.

Work will be led by Worley’s Nordic team located at Gothenburg and Copenhagen offices, supported by global hydrogen experts and our Global Integrated Delivery team in India.

“We bring technical competence in the e-methanol space, along with execution capabilities necessary to drive this project from the initial design phase through to the final investment decision and successful construction,” said Jan Narvestad, Senior Vice President, Nordics.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Uniper and Liquid Wind to unlock the potential of the NorthStarH2 project and help balance the global dependence on fossil fuels.”
