LANXESS unleashes powerful, eco-friendly oxidizing agent for next-gen detergents

German speciality chemicals major LANXESS is giving detergent makers a new weapon in the battle for cleaner, greener laundry.

Its Oxone Monopersulfate Compound, a fast-acting and potent oxidizing agent, allows cold-wash detergents to deliver top-tier stain removal at temperatures as low as 20 °C—helping consumers save energy, reduce costs, and cut CO₂ emissions without sacrificing performance.

"Oxone shows how innovative chemistry can drive sustainability in cleaning,” says Dr. Kelly Board, Technical Application Manager for Oxidation at LANXESS. "Washing at low temperatures can save up to 27 kilograms of CO₂ per household annually, while also reducing microfiber release.”

Tough stains—from wine and grape juice to coffee and tea—are lifted more effectively than with traditional sodium percarbonate (SPC) formulations, with or without TAED.

Oxone’s versatility doesn’t stop at laundry. It dissolves fully in less than ten seconds, supports compact detergent formats like powders, pods, and tablets, and is gentle on fabrics while preserving colorfastness. Chlorine-free and odorless, it also ensures a safer, more pleasant user experience.

Transport and storage are simpler too: its Class 8 risk rating makes it safer to handle than many other oxidizers. Beyond laundry, Oxone can boost cleaning power in dishwashing, appliance cleaners, toilet and drain cleaners, and other household products.

With Oxone, LANXESS is not just cleaning clothes—it’s redefining sustainable, high-performance household care.
