Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) has announced to temporarily suspend construction of the meta-xylenediamine (MXDA) manufacturing facility at our consolidated subsidiary, MGC Specialty Chemicals Netherlands BV in light of delays in construction, rising construction costs, and changes in the market environment.

MGC had been proceeding with construction of MXDA manufacturing facilities at MSCN in order to establish a new production base in Europe, MXDA's largest market, initially aiming to start production in July 2024.

However, in addition to construction delays due to a change in construction contractor, the company has experienced rising construction and labor costs stemming from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and changes in the competitive environment in the MXDA market.

“Due to these changes in the business environment, it is possible that the feasibility of this project will be worse than initially planned. In light of this situation, we have decided to temporarily suspend construction work at MSCN in order to review our business plan, including whether to continue construction,” The company said in a media release.
