PI Industries launches CARVINT to strengthen pest control in chilli and cole crops
The new insecticide is being positioned as a differentiated pest-management solution for farmers in key markets across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh
PI Industries has launched CARVINT (Flometoquin 10% SC), a next-generation insecticide aimed at tackling two major vegetable pests—Thrips and Diamond Back Moth (DBM)—in crops including chilli, cabbage and cauliflower.
The new insecticide is being positioned as a differentiated pest-management solution for farmers in key markets across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Pest pressure remains a major challenge for vegetable growers, particularly in high-value crops. Thrips can cut chilli yields by 25–50%, while Diamond Back Moth can inflict significant losses on cabbage crops. Farmers are also grappling with frequent spray requirements, shorter control periods, rising input costs and increasing resistance to existing insecticide chemistries.
CARVINT contains Flometoquin 10% SC, a new active ingredient belonging to IRAC Group 34. Its distinct mode of action gives farmers an additional option for controlling key pests while supporting resistance-management programmes through rotation with existing insecticide chemistries.
