Ugar Sugar to set up 200 KLPD ethanol production

The company is planning an investment of Rs. 151 crore.

Ugar Sugar Works Ltd., part of Shirgaokar Group of companies, has decided to set up a 200 KLPD (Kilo Litre Per Day) distillery at its Ugar Plant at Ugar Khurd.

The company is planning distillery capacity expansion for Ethanol production at Ugar Khurd Plant and is hopeful of conducting trials during this crushing season. Presently, the company has a capacity of 75 KLPD distillery. 

The company is planning an investment of Rs. 151 crore. Internal accruals will contribute around Rs. 37.90 crore and bank loan will be Rs. 113.10 crore. The project announced is in line with the policy of Government of India for increase in blending of Ethanol in fuel.

The proposed distillery will utilize sugarcane juice/syrup during the crushing season in the off season production form B & C Heavy molasses for continuous manufacture of ethanol.

The Ugar Sugar Works Limited, a flagship organization of the Shirgaokar Group of Companies has been involved in the manufacture of white crystal sugar for over 75 years. Currently, the Ugar and Jewargi plants are crushing a total of 18,000 tcd of sugarcane daily.

The Ugar Sugar Works Limited has been successfully operating its 44 MW Bagasse based Cogeneration Power Plant, one of the largest power plants of its type in the country for several years.
