The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has authorized the marketing of transportation fuels to seven companies - RIL, IMC Limited, Onsite Energy Pvt. Ltd., Assam Gas Company Ltd., M K Agrotech Private Limited, RBML Solutions India Ltd. (RSIL), and Manas Agro Industries and Infrastructure Limited says Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameswar Teli in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas vide Resolution dated 08.11.2019 has revised the guidelines for authorization to market transportation fuels which have been published in the Gazette of India.

The revised guidelines would promote ease of doing business and boost private players to invest in the retail sector.

Further, the entities while applying for marketing authorization have to provide details about their marketing plan including details of source of supply. Such entities are free to source their supplies from different sources including PSU Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in their best commercial wisdom.

At present, it may not be possible to gauge the quantum of change in country-wide auto fuel supply as the new entities have been granted marketing authorization fairly recently, added Ramewar Teli.
