BASF launches Floragenist to drive innovation in epigenetic personal care

Floragenist rose supports skin radiance for a “diamond skin” effect

BASF Personal Care has launched Floragenist, a new generation of floral active ingredients that blend natural beauty with scientifically proven performance. Driven by epigenetic science and traditional botanicals, the complementary duo—Floragenist Rose and Floragenist Blossom—enhances skin radiance while boosting resistance to daily stress. The ingredients are derived from responsibly sourced Moroccan Damask Rose and Bitter Orange blossom to ensure strict traceability.

At the core of BASF’s latest breakthrough is AquaGenesis, a sustainable extraction technology driven by natural coconut water. This clean innovation gently isolates active plant nutrients without harsh synthetic solvents, keeping delicate botanical structures intact while supercharging the active formula. Because it yields far more antioxidant-rich flavonoids than standard extraction methods, it dramatically elevates the efficacy of modern skin care formulations.

For the development of Floragenist, BASF researchers have paired this innovative extraction technology with epigenetic science. Together, these two fields of expertise result in advanced flower extracts that contribute to high-precision epidermal support.

Floragenist Rose unlocks radiant, luminous skin by refining surface texture through the power of epigenetic science. This innovative ingredient supports the skin's natural "surface optics" proteins, which are essential for maintaining structural integrity and optimal light reflection. By enhancing cell cohesion and neutralizing oxidative stress, Floragenist Rose promotes a visibly smoother, more even-toned complexion. Clinical evaluations using VISIA imaging demonstrate its exceptional efficacy: at just a 0.4% concentration, it delivers a 2.7-fold increase in visible luminosity and a 22% reduction in redness compared to a placebo.

Floragenist Blossom helps skin adapt to environmental and lifestyle stress. It boosts skin strength by supporting vital skin proteins. This maintains the natural moisture barrier, enhances surface smoothness, and protects against daily strain like over-washing or micro-shocks. A clinical test showed a 0.1% concentration reduced water loss variation by 52% during harsh cleansing compared to a placebo.

The Floragenist range follows BASF’s Responsibly Active guidelines, focusing on transparent, ethical, and eco-friendly practices. Hand-picked in Morocco, its organic Damask Rose and Bitter Orange ingredients are fully traceable. The rose supply chain meets sustainable standards to support farming communities.
