Cosmo Films has expanded its synthetic paper portfolio with a new high tear-resistant PP sheet film aimed at durable tags and identification labels requiring stronger tear resistance, printability and dimensional stability.
The new High Tear Resistant Flexo/Thermal Transfer printable – Both Side Coated synthetic paper is based on polypropylene (PP) sheet film and is designed to combine the appearance and feel of conventional paper with the durability of plastic film.
The co-extruded sheet features a matte-coated surface on both sides, allowing high-quality printing on either face. Cosmo Films said the product is targeted at applications where conventional paper can tear or suffer damage during handling.
The film supports UV Offset, water-based and UV Flexo, and Thermal Transfer printing on both sides, giving brands and converters greater flexibility for durable tags and labels. It can also be die-punched and precision perforated for customised applications.

The product is available in 125, 150, 200 and 250 micron thicknesses, in reel form with a maximum width of 1,550 mm. The PP-based sheet is also FDA approved, supporting applications where stringent material safety and food-contact requirements apply.
Cosmo Films said the product is particularly suited for garment hang tags, tree tags, airport transfer tags, horticulture identification tags and cattle identification tags, as well as other applications involving repeated handling and a high risk of tearing.
The launch strengthens Cosmo Films’ focus on specialty films and application-specific solutions backed by its R&D capabilities. The company already offers synthetic paper products positioned as durable alternatives to conventional paper, including non-tearable, matte-coated solutions for specialised applications.
