DCM Shriram Ltd received a Certificate of Appreciation for water conservation efforts at its Bharuch site, during the TERI-IWA-UNDP Water Sustainability Awards 2022-23 held on March 21, 2023 at New Delhi.
The Certificate of Appreciation was handed under the category “Excellence in Water Use Efficiency – Industrial sector”.
The company installed a RO unit with 40 m3/hr capacity in the power plant at its Bharuch site for recycling of cooling tower blowdown water. Recycling of blowdown water has reduced fresh water consumption in the power plant cooling towers ensuring reduction in overall water consumption.
The company has been focussed on water conservation and implementing sustainable measures in all its plants. The company has been able to address several water conservation challenges in Jhalawar, Kota and its neighbouring districts in Rajasthan. From implementing several projects in Bharuch, Gujarat, to teaching sustainable practices to the sugarcane farmers in Hardoi and Lakhimpuri Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, DCM Shriram's efforts are bearing great results.
