The focus of Khushali initiatives is to address community needs through all-round development for a measurable improvement in quality of life
DCM Shriram Limited is driving social impact initiatives for the benefit of its communities by promoting holistic growth through "Khushali" initiatives. The philanthropic legacy stems from the founder of DCM group, Sir Shri Ram (1884-1963), the samaritan industrialist.
The focus of Khushali initiatives is on two aspects: addressing community needs through all-round development for a measurable improvement in quality of life and promoting economic empowerment of farmers in India with emphasis on water conservation. The integrated development model named Khushali and various programs under this umbrella are designed to help achieve these goals.
Khushali Sehat – This year, DCM Shriram has collaborated with Bharuch district administration to launch this adolescent girls’ self-awareness initiative. UNICEF India, CSRBox foundation, and MS University are also partners in this program. The objective is to cover adolescent girls in the age group of 10 to 19 years from 123 villages of Jhagadia Taluka, Bharuch. During the year, these girls have undergone various capability and capacity building sessions on health & hygiene, child marriage, nutrition, and career counselling.
Khushali Swachhata – The local school & community led total sanitation program is given a boost through awareness activities in the government schools and communities. Awareness activities include sensitizing the entire community on behaviour change, cleanliness of the surroundings along with good personal hygiene.
Khushali Shiksha – Under this education initiative, the organisation is opening doors of opportunity for the youth. To promote collaborative learning, inculcate critical thinking, and problem solving, the organization has given digital devices such as tablets for children studying in class I-VI.
Khushali Rozgaar – Through this skilling and livelihood program, the organisation skills farmers on good agricultural practices; livestock development; skills women on being financially independent and add to the family income; and support rural artisans through teaching them the art of Zardozi and rural youth on how to be self-reliant.
This year in Jhagadia, 15 deserving students were provided sponsorship support to take the DCS Operator course. A total of 23 students had undergone a one year intensive training and on completion of the course, they were given certificates along with their job offer letters in August 2023.
Khushali Paryavaran – This is the environment sustainability initiative of the organisation. Under this, the organisation is actively working on water conservation and tree plantation. The water program is directly linked with SDG 6 – Clean water and sanitation.
