Eastman has launched its Adjust SL plant growth regulator in the United States, giving wheat, barley, oats and triticale growers a new chlormequat chloride-based option designed to strengthen crops and reduce lodging.
The product is positioned around two key advantages: a wider application window than other plant growth regulators (PGRs) and effective performance under low-temperature conditions.
"For many years, growers in Europe and Canada have benefited from the flexibility and performance that our chlormequat chloride solutions provide," said Khalid El Ouadi, market development manager at Eastman. "We are excited to bring this proven technology to U.S. growers and provide another tool to help them manage cereal crops across a range of growing conditions."
Adjust SL is designed to increase stem strength and reduce stem height, helping prevent lodging—the bending or flattening of cereal crops that can complicate harvesting and affect crop quality and yield potential.
Eastman said the formulation can deliver a crop response at temperatures as low as 34°F (1.1°C), allowing growers to make applications during cool, early-season conditions when roots and tillers are developing.
The combination of cold-temperature performance and extended crop activity gives Adjust SL greater flexibility across early and later growth stages, the company said, resulting in a wider application window than other PGRs.
