Emerson has launched a new generation of magnetic flow meters designed to help industrial operators detect problems earlier, simplify troubleshooting and keep critical processes running with less downtime.
The new Rosemount 9000 Series Magnetic Flow Meter portfolio launches with the Rosemount 9732 Magnetic Flow Transmitter and Rosemount 9205 Magnetic Flow Sensor.
Emerson says the portfolio combines advanced diagnostics, simplified installation and enhanced measurement performance for demanding applications across industries including chemical, oil and gas, metals and mining, food and beverage, pulp and paper, power, water and wastewater, refining, electronics and semiconductors, and life sciences.
“Customers are looking for technologies that help them do more with fewer resources while maintaining confidence in their operations. The Rosemount 9000 Series Magnetic Flowmeter delivers intelligent diagnostics, simplified operation and trusted measurement performance that help users improve reliability, reduce maintenance effort and make better decisions,” said Bob Halgren, vice president products with Emerson’s measurement instrumentation business.
The new meters are built around four key upgrades: advanced diagnostics, built-in Smart Meter Verification, an enhanced sensor design, and universal power and configurable outputs.
Advanced diagnostics are designed to shift maintenance from reactive to proactive. Features such as coated electrode detection, tunable empty pipe detection, smart fluid diagnostics and five standard logs can help identify coating buildup, electrical noise, empty-pipe conditions and other potential sources of inaccurate readings.
The built-in Smart Meter Verification™ system allows users to check meter health and measurement performance without removing the sensor from service or stopping operations. Standard verification provides pass/fail diagnostics and sensor health checks, while an advanced option delivers detailed electrode and coil health data with historical logging.
Emerson says the enhanced sensor design delivers greater accuracy and long-term stability in demanding environments. Improvements include advanced magnetics, optimized sensor construction, a redesigned housing and intrinsically safe wiring, while power requirements have been cut by 50%. The company says the result is stronger, more stable signals and up to four times better out-of-the-box performance.
Installation is also designed to be faster and more flexible. The meter's universal power supply accepts either AC or DC power, helping eliminate configuration errors and making the unit suitable for global deployments and retrofit projects without reordering or reconfiguration.
Configurable analog, digital and pulse outputs further simplify commissioning. Users can define scaling, alert mapping and fail-safe behavior to accommodate a broad range of control-system requirements, including both legacy and modern systems.
Emerson said the new portfolio is aimed at helping operators reduce maintenance effort, improve measurement confidence and maintain uptime in critical industrial processes.
