HEXPOL has agreed to acquire Italian specialty compounder Vipa Group for €143.5 million, strengthening its position in the fast-growing Wire & Cable market and accelerating its expansion in thermoplastic compounding.

The acquisition gives HEXPOL full ownership of Vipa Group, a leading European developer and manufacturer of high-quality thermoplastic compounds headquartered in Ancarano, Italy.

The deal significantly expands HEXPOL's product portfolio and geographic footprint in key growth markets including electrification, data centers, telecommunications and smart buildings.

Founded in 1969 by the Paolini family, Vipa Group has grown into a specialty compounder with above-market profitability. The family will support the transition to HEXPOL ownership for 18 months, while current CEO Nicola Vigolo will continue to lead the company as a subsidiary within the HEXPOL Group.

Vipa operates two production facilities in Italy and a state-of-the-art R&D center. In 2025, the company generated revenue of €76.4 million, employed about 80 people and retained additional production capacity for future growth.

"The acquisition of Vipa Group marks an important step in executing the growth strategy for the new business area Thermoplastic Compounding that was presented at our Capital Markets Day in November 2025.

"It also demonstrates our ambition to build a leading thermoplastics platform through both organic growth and acquisitions," says Peter Rosén, acting CEO and CFO.

"Vipa Group brings leading positions in Wire & Cable, strong material expertise and exposure to long-term structural growth drivers such as electrification and data centers."

The transaction covers the entire Vipa Group, including Vi.pa S.r.l. and Vi.pa Polimeri S.r.l.

“We are very pleased to have found a new industrial owner for Vipa Group that is committed to continuing our activities in the region while upholding our policy of sustainable development”, says Stefano Paolini, Chairman of the Board and member of the founding family of Vipa Group.

“HEXPOL has demonstrated deep knowledge about the business and a willingness to further invest and develop the Group our family has built over more than half a century. The Group’s heritage will continue, and our employees will be part of a group with a strong future”, summaries Stefano Paolini.

The acquisition supports HEXPOL's strategy to build thermoplastic compounding into a key growth platform, an objective outlined during the company's Capital Markets Day in November 2025.

The purchase will be funded through a combination of bank facilities and cash. The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

Following the acquisition, HEXPOL will also reorganize parts of its business. Effective July 1, HEXPOL Izmir and HEXPOL Vilafranca will move from the Rubber Compounding business area to Thermoplastic Compounding, increasing the group's scale and capabilities in the Wire & Cable sector.
