Symrise has invested €27.5 million in a major production expansion at its Food & Beverage site in Berric, France, installing a state-of-the-art cooking line and spray-drying tower to strengthen its global chicken ingredients and taste solutions business.
The new facilities are now operational, significantly increasing production capacity and giving the company greater flexibility to meet rising customer demand across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, while providing additional sourcing options for customers in Asia Pacific and Latin America.
Designed and executed by Symrise scientists and engineers, the project combines advanced process control with flexible manufacturing capabilities. The investment also received funding support from the Brittany region and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
The upgraded Berric site will manufacture a broad range of chicken-based products, from pure, high-quality ingredients to integrated taste solutions combining natural chicken ingredients with flavors.
The expanded production capabilities cover powders, broths, fats, pieces, flavors and integrated solutions for savory food and nutritional applications. By bringing ingredient production, flavor creation, process technology and application expertise together, Symrise aims to help customers move from product concepts to market-ready solutions more efficiently.
The additional capacity is also expected to improve supply reliability, provide greater sourcing flexibility for global accounts and support more consistent access to Symrise’s chicken portfolio across regions.
“Starting the new facilities marks a major step for our global chicken business and our strategy of championing chicken across Food & Beverage and Pet Food,” says Antoine Coursault, Global Strategic Growth Competence Chicken Director Symrise F&B.
“They combine state-of-the-art technology with our deep ingredient, flavor and application expertise, expanding our capacity and flexibility. Customers gain reliable access to a broad portfolio of chicken taste and nutritional solutions. By connecting local expertise with global capabilities, we create added value for customers across regions”.
The expansion builds on more than 45 years of chicken expertise at the Berric site, linking its established regional capabilities with Symrise’s global technologies, application knowledge and market reach.
Combined with the company’s established leading position in North America, the expanded European footprint strengthens Symrise’s position in the global chicken taste and nutrition market.
The investment also supports the company’s ONE Symrise strategy and the Food & Beverage division’s ambition to accelerate customer advantage and deliver long-term growth.
By combining regional manufacturing strength with global expertise, Symrise is building a scalable production platform designed to reinforce supply resilience, broaden its product portfolio and respond more effectively to evolving customer needs across food, beverage and pet food markets.
