Supports over 2,500 children in Okhamandal

Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) has reaffirmed its focus on education and rural development.

The Society is supporting Shala Praveshotsav 2026 across Okhamandal, Gujarat, from 23 to 25 June. The state-led initiative is designed to bring young children into formal education by enrolling them in Class 1, Balvatika, and Anganwadi centres.

The annual drive goes beyond first-time admissions, placing strong emphasis on girls’ education and deeper community participation to ensure wider access to early learning opportunities.

As part of its support, TCSRD will distribute school bags and educational kits to newly enrolled Class 1 and Balvatika students across government schools in the Okhamandal block. The initiative is expected to benefit 2,534 students, strengthening early classroom engagement from day one.

More than 20 departments of Tata Chemicals will contribute employee volunteers to the programme, engaging directly with children and parents during the three-day drive. The volunteering effort is projected to generate over 350 hours of service, with staff encouraging students as they begin their schooling journey.

The initiative will also see participation from state officials, district administrators, village leaders, parents, and corporate volunteers, underscoring a broad-based push to strengthen foundational education.

Rino Raj, Vice President and Site Head, Mithapur, said, “The first day of school is a special milestone in every child’s life. Beyond ensuring enrolment, it is equally important to build a sense of excitement, confidence and belonging among children as they begin their learning journey.

"Through our support to Shala Praveshotsav, we aim to warmly welcome young learners with encouragement and enthusiasm. Together with schools, parents and the wider community, we remain committed to strengthening access to quality education and building a strong foundation for every child’s growth, aspirations and future success.”

Through the initiative, TCSRD aims to boost early education access, improve enrolment rates, and help build a stronger learning ecosystem for children across the Okhamandal region.
