In a major legal victory, a three-member arbitration tribunal of the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA) has unanimously rejected a massive Rs. 908 crore claim filed against Tata Chemicals Limited.

The consolidated claim was initiated in December 2024 by Allied Silica Limited (ASL) and its promoter, Manmohan Singh Jain, stemming from disputes linked to a 2018 business transfer agreement. In its final award issued on October 15, 2026, the panel completely dismissed ASL's multi-crore demand.

However, by a majority decision, the tribunal directed Tata Chemicals to pay a minimal principal amount of Rs. 1 crore, alongside interest and specific legal costs, to Allied Silica.
