Thermax has unveiled a new range of intelligent boilers and heaters designed to optimise performance in real time as operating conditions change, marking a shift from reactive to predictive control in industrial heating.
The company launched the Thermax-i series at Boiler India 2026, with the first product in the range, UltraPac-i, an intelligent biomass-fired boiler that automatically responds to fluctuations in fuel characteristics, ambient conditions and process demand.
Powered by EDGE Control, Thermax’s proprietary physics-enhanced, data-driven control technology, UltraPac-i continuously anticipates changes and takes corrective action in real time. Pilot installations have recorded fuel savings of up to 10%, potentially helping industries cut both operating costs and associated carbon emissions.
Thermax describes UltraPac-i as a global industry-first innovation, bringing intelligent, self-optimising capabilities to biomass-fired boilers.
The company said the technology is designed not only for new equipment. EDGE Control can also be deployed as a retrofit on suitable existing boilers and other equipment, allowing customers to add intelligent control and optimisation without replacing their current assets.
UltraPac-i will be showcased at the Thermax booth during Boiler India 2026, being held from October 8–10 at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Navi Mumbai.
“For six decades, Thermax has worked to improve how industries generate and use heat. Our intelligent series of boilers represents the next evolution of that journey — combining our understanding of combustion and boilers with advanced analytics and intelligent control.
"The ability of a boiler to anticipate changing conditions and optimise itself can create significant value, particularly with fuels such as biomass. It is a revolutionary breakthrough and an exciting step forward for Thermax and our customers. We are starting Thermax-i series with boilers and heaters and will progressively extend these intelligent capabilities across our wider portfolio,” said Ashish Bhandari, Managing Director & CEO, Thermax.
