Trinseo collaborates with Tegal City environmental agency in Indonesia

Another move to help makes Tegal a waste-free city

Trinseo's Let's Do Recycling! Program (LDR!P), an advocacy program in Indonesia aimed at educating and helping reduce plastic waste since 2019, has collaborated further with the Tegal City Government through the Environmental Agency on the "Tegal Towards a Waste-free City" program.

The program was inaugurated on August 15, 2023 at Khas Tegal Hotel. Some 27 sub-district representatives in Tegal City attended the event. The program not only provides education related to waste recycling across the community, but also encourages people to actively participate in two interesting competitions: a video competition highlighting innovative waste recycling management and a competition encouraging waste recycling efforts that provide economic value and encourage a circular economy.

"Concrete action to manage waste in Tegal City needs to be taken. We need to start from upstream to solve this problem. Not only from the government, but also comprehensive collaboration is needed with the private sector, manufacturers and the environmental community to maximize the results," said Lestari.

Hanggara Sukandar, Trinseo's President Director cum Director of Environment & Sustainability Affairs, Responsible Care® Indonesia, explained that the "Tegal Towards Waste-free City" program involves all environmental activists and all sub-districts of Tegal City. "Since 2020, we have collaborated with the Tegal City Government to enhance literacy. This year, to welcome World Cleanup Day in September, we are kicking off the Program by involving the community to actively participate in waste management and recycling activities," indicated Sukandar.

"The Program covers all stages from upstream to downstream in the waste chain. We hope that with support and active participation from the community, the vision of making Tegal a waste-free city can be realized," concluded Lestari.
