India is anticipating some big-ticket projects related to hydrogen in India. Hydrogen is gaining attention as a potential clean energy source, particularly for sectors that are challenging to decarbonize, such as heavy industries, fertilizers, transportation and power generation. The Government of India has expressed its commitment to promoting hydrogen as an essential part of its energy transition.

To drive the development of the hydrogen sector, the Indian government has announced various initiatives and policies. The National Green Hydrogen Mission was launched in 2021 with a focus on developing hydrogen production, storage and utilization technologies. It aims to support research and development, pilot projects and market creation for hydrogen in India.

Additionally, the government has proposed setting up hydrogen hubs and pilot projects across the country. These hubs will act as centers for hydrogen production, storage, and distribution, and are expected to attract significant investments. The government is also exploring partnerships with international players and conducting feasibility studies to identify suitable sites for these projects.

While big-ticket hydrogen projects are yet to materialize in India, there is growing interest from both domestic and international stakeholders. Several public and private players are exploring opportunities in areas such as hydrogen production, storage, and fuel cell applications. Collaboration between industry, research institutions and government is essential to accelerate the development and deployment of hydrogen projects in India.

Overall, the Indian hydrogen sector holds significant potential, and with the government's initiatives and support, it is expected that big-ticket projects will emerge in the near future. These projects will play a crucial role in scaling up hydrogen infrastructure and driving its adoption as a clean energy solution in India.
