Tata Steel SEZ inks MoU with Hygenco to set up green ammonia and green hydrogen project in Odisha

The initial phase will be commissioned by December 2026

Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL) and Hygenco signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a green hydrogen and green ammonia project at TSSEZL's Gopalpur Industrial Park in Odisha.

Under the MoU, Hygenco will acquire land in Gopalpur Industrial Park, located in Odisha’s Ganjam district, to set up its green hydrogen, green ammonia, and derivatives unit.  Hygenco aims to produce 1 million tonnes per annum of Green Ammonia from this plant in different phases. The initial phase will be commissioned by December 2026.

The collaboration builds upon the approval received in February 2024 from the High-Level Clearance Authority of the Chief Minister's Office, Odisha.

It also demonstrates Hygenco’s unwavering dedication to advance the sphere of sustainable energy.
