Dr. S. P. Mohanty appointed CMD of BVFCL

He will also continue to head HIL (India) Limited as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) till a new CMD is appointed

Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of HIL (India) Limited has been recommended by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) as CMD of BVFCL (Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited).  

Mohanty will also continue to head HIL (India) Limited as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) till a new CMD is appointed.  Mohanty has served as Director (Marketing), HIL (India) Limited and has also held additional charge as the CMD of the organisation.

Mohanty has done his Masters in Business Management from Berhampur University, Odisha. He completed his Executive Development Programme from IIM Lucknow and Advanced Management Programme from IIM, Kolkata. He comes with more than 26 years of rich and diverse experience primarily in Marketing of Agri Inputs. He has also worked in Rashtriya Chemical & Fertilizers Ltd (RCF), Mumbai, in different capacities from 1989 to 2015.

Government of India vide its cabinet meeting dated 21-05-2015 has decided for setting up of a new brownfield Ammonia-Urea complex (Namrup-IV Project) in the existing premises of BVFCL having capacity of 8.646 Lakh MT per annum with the available gas of 1.72 MMSCMD. Further, it was considered for installation of a standard size gas based Ammonia-Urea Plant with a capacity of 12.70 lakh MT/annum in place of 8.646 lakh MT/annum through nomination route by forming a Joint Venture of CPSEs and Government of Assam. In this project, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd., Mumbai will be having 52% equity. 

The cabinet note for seeking approval of the proposal for setting up of the plant having capacity of 12.70 Lakh MT/ annum through PSU route (52% to RCF, 26% to OIL, 11% to BVFCL, and 11% to the Government of Assam is under consideration of the Department of Fertilizers. Dr. Mohanty will focus on setting up the Ammonia-Urea Plant in record time.
