Haryana Organics has proposed to expand and modernise its distillery and captive power plant at Chulkhana in Panipat district. The existing unit produces 25 KLPD of distillery products using molasses and grain and wants it to increase it to 100 KLPD.

district. The existing unit produces 25 KLPD of distillery products using
molasses and grain and wants it to increase it to 100 KLPD. The products are
rectified spirit, extra neutral alcohol, country liquor and IMFL.
In its letter to the Ministry of Environment and Forest for environmental
clearance to its proposal, the company said that keeping in view the growing
market demand for distillery products it is planning for capacity expansion and
modernisation of its unit.
The modernisation steps proposed are:
1. fermentation section to operate at higher alcohol concentration
2. multi-pressure distillation with reboilers
3. multi-effect evaporation, &
4. zero-effluent discharge
The capital cost of the project is Rs 35 and the capital cost of EMP is Rs 10
crore. The total project area is 17 acres of which 33 per cent i.e., 5.6 acres
is for greenbelt development.
The company said there are no defence installation, biosphere reserve, national
park or wildlife sanctuary and ecologically-sensitive area within 10 km radius
of the project site.
The total manpower of the unit is 100.
According to the company, attempts shall be made to minimise the effluent
generation, solid wastes, air emissions and noise etc.
According to the company, there will be no adverse effect on water environment
due to the project.
The company said it has been providing personal protective equipment like hand
gloves, gumboot, goggles, helmet, clothing etc to the employees according to
requirement. It has also been adopting all hazard identification measures to
ensure safety and providing all medical facilities to its employees.
It said occupational health surveillance programmes are being undertaken as a
regular exercise for all employees.
