at Vagara in Gujarat?s Bharuch district to manufacture pesticides and pigments.
In a letter to the Environment and Forests Ministry for environment clearance,
Meghmani said the estimated cost of the proposed project will be Rs 150 crore
including pollution control measures.
The proposed unit will produce pigments and pesticides with a cumulative
capacity of 12390 TPM.
The total land area is 84427.59 sq m, the company said, adding land to be
utilised will be a part of designated industrial land.
The unit will develop greenbelt in 25000 sq m area which is about 30 per cent of
the total area. Local species of trees will be planted and assistance of local
people will be taken for development of greenbelt.
According to the company, the products it intends to manufacture are insoluble
in water and proper primary and secondary treatment will be adequate to control
all the pollutants except ammonical nitrogen.
It said there are no rehabilitation and resettlement areas near the plant site.
"No state and national boundary exist within 15 km radius from the plant
boundary and there are no reserve forests in the 10-km radius," the company
said.
There are also no historical places, archaeological sites, wildlife sanctuaries
or national parks within a 10 km radius from the project site.
In its presentation to the Expert Appraisal Committee of Industrial Projects of
the Ministry, the company said there will not be any major potential for
negative impact on the environment due to the proposed project.
It said it will adopt all hazard identification measures and ensure safety and
provide all medical facilities to its employees. (ENDS)
