PI Industries has approached the Ministry of
Environment and Forests for environmental clearance to its proposed chemical
manufacturing unit at Jambusar in Gujarat?s Bharuch district. The company
proposes to manufacture 7,000 MTPA of 27 agrochemicals, fine chemicals and
intermediates.
The proposed project is sited in the notified Sterling SEZ.
In a letter to the ministry, the company said the project is proposed to add
manufacturing capacity to meet the growing demands of products and to fulfil
export commitments.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 393 crore with Rs 40 crore to be
invested in environmental protection measures.
Total land for the project is 90,286 sq m of which 33 per cent or 29,800 sq m is
green belt area.
The company said there are no eco-sensitive areas like forest land, national
park, wildlife sanctuary within 10 km radius of the site.
The company said it will adopt all safety-related measures. PI Industries Ltd.
will set up a department with trained personnel to take up responsibility for
environment, safety and health.
It said the construction activities and development will make the area an
attractive place for people to move in or return to the area. A change in the
demographic profile will be observed as early as the initial phase of
construction.
Construction activities will generate total employment for about 450 people.
