Veda Biofuels proposes new unit in Andhra Pradesh

Veda Biofuels Pvt Ltd has moved the Ministry of Environment and Forests for
environmental clearance to its unit for manufacturing rectified spirit, extra
neutral alcohol (ENA), ethanol, pharma alcohol and industrial alcohols at
Nadipalle in Andhra Pradesh\'s Vizianagaram district.

In its presentation to the Ministry for environmental clearance, the company said
that it intends to produce 60 KLPD of rectified spirit, extra neutral alcohol
(ENA), ethanol, pharma alcohol and industrial alcohols in the first phase and
another 60 KLPD in the second phase.

The total land acquired for the project is 25 acres. The project cost is Rs 65.89
crore in the first phase and Rs 54.2 crore in the second phase.

The company said the proposed project area does not fall under the industrial
areas/cluster which are listed in the Environment Ministry\'s office memorandum.
Also there are also no historical places, defence installations, archaeological
sites, wildlife sanctuaries or national parks and ecologically-sensitive areas
within 10 km radius of the project site.

There are no grain based distilleries within 200 km radius of the project.

The company said during the manufacturing process, batch fermentation with multi-
pressure vacuum distillation will be followed.

Veda Biofuels said baseline data is being collected for the proposed project and a
study area of 10 km radius has been chosen.

Six sampling stations have been selected within the study area as per the
guidelines of the Environment Ministry and Central Pollution Control Board based
on predominant wind direction, upwind direction, crosswind direction, rural area
representation and urban area representation.

Parameters like PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NOx and other parameters as stipulated in the
MoEF notification are analysed twice in a week for each station throughout the
study period of three months.

The environmental management plan of the company consists of:
1. Air emission management inclduing the control of fugitive emissions
2. Effluent treatment and disposal
3. Solid waste generation, storage and disposal.
4. Greenbelt development plan.
5. Rain water harvesting.
6. Post project environmental monitoring.

The risk analysis and disaster management plan of the company consists of:
1. Identification of risks.
2. Analysis of risks.
3. Occupational health.
4. Preparation of Disaster Management Plan.
