BASF has officially inaugurated its new global performance lab for diapers and superabsorbents (SAP) in Mumbai to deliver technical and application services to hygiene customers worldwide. Developed in less than twelve months by BASF’s Hygiene Solutions business, the 200-square-meter facility is integrated into the Innovation Campus Asia Pacific. This hub, established in 2017 under BASF Chemicals India Private Limited, operates as the company's second-largest research and development site within the Asia-Pacific region.

The new Global Technical Service Lab in Mumbai leverages a global production network to deliver rapid, customer-focused collaboration in a high-growth market.

“The opening of the Mumbai Global SAP Performance Lab reflects our commitment to advancing performance, sustainability, and value for our customers all over the world,” said Oliver Cullmann, Vice President, Global Marketing & Strategy C3 Value Chain. “By creating opportunities for closer collaboration and faster knowledge exchange, we can accelerate innovation and develop solutions that better address the needs of consumers and the market.”

The Mumbai SAP and Diaper Performance Labs represent more than a new technical facility—it embodies BASF’s dedication to customer intimacy, collaboration, speed, and innovation. By fostering stronger partnerships and enabling closer engagement with customers, the lab will play a key role in shaping the future of hygiene solutions. It will collaborate with the existing Global Product Development Lab for superabsorbents in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
