IMCD Group, a global leader in speciality chemicals and ingredients, has opened a new Construction Laboratory in Jakarta, creating Southeast Asia’s first fully integrated technical hub for coatings and construction.
The move brings together IMCD’s Coatings Laboratory, operating since 2018 and fully refurbished in 2024, with a new construction-focused facility, enabling closer collaboration between technical experts, customers, and principals on formulation development, testing, and problem-solving.
The combined Coatings & Construction Laboratory is designed to meet regional market needs, speed up product development, and support training initiatives. Its expertise spans: decorative paints, industrial metal coatings, wood, plastic, and automotive coatings, as well as dry mix mortars, flooring resins, waterproofing systems, concrete blocks, bricks, masonry, joint fillers, sealants, and ready-to-use renders.
This development builds on a series of recent investments in Indonesia, including the enhanced Food & Nutrition Laboratory (2025), the expanded Pharmaceuticals Technical Centre (2024), and the Global Microbiology Laboratory (2024), underscoring Indonesia’s role as a regional hub for technical excellence.
“With both the Coatings and Construction laboratories and experts working side by side, we can support our partners in a more connected and effective way,” said Pimsiraya Vichaidit, Director, Coatings & Construction, Asia-Pacific. “It means faster development, stronger troubleshooting and solutions that are designed around the realities of the regional market.”
“This milestone reflects the commitment and teamwork of our local and regional teams, working closely with our partners,” added Naihong Yang, Technical Director, Coatings & Construction, Asia-Pacific. “It is about creating practical, high-quality and sustainable solutions that help our customers move faster and help our customers advance faster in their product developments.”
