The facility is designed to conduct in-depth testing of bacteria, fungi, and algae
IMCD, a global leading distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has announced the opening of its new microbiology laboratory in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The state-of-the-art facility will play a pivotal role in supporting both global and local product development projects, offering microbiology expertise across a wide range of industries, including life sciences and industrial applications, and serving customers in Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Americas.
Equipped with advanced testing capabilities and housing over 29 culture collections, the new laboratory features specialised spaces for inoculation, incubation, and analysis. The facility is designed to conduct in-depth testing of bacteria, fungi, and algae, helping customers improve product quality, enhance shelf life, and ensure the microbiological safety of their formulations.
In addition, the laboratory will serve as the home of the IMCD Preservatives and Biocides Academy, a centre of excellence where experts and customers can expand their knowledge of microbiology and preservative technologies. The laboratory also offers services such as plant hygiene audits and preventive measures, to ensure that manufacturing environments remain free from microbial contamination.
“Some microbes are invisible to the naked eye, yet they can significantly impact product quality and longevity. Our microbiology technical centre is dedicated to helping our customers turn their product visions into reality by leveraging microbiology to drive innovation and excellence,” said Margianto, Microbiology Laboratory Manager at IMCD Indonesia.
“This new microbiology laboratory in Asia is an exciting addition to IMCD’s global network of labs, said Alen Guy, Group Technical Excellence Director, IMCD.
“With facilities across key regions, we can provide localised and global support to our customers, helping them develop formulations that meet the highest standards of quality, innovation, safety, and sustainability. By tapping into our global expertise and cutting-edge capabilities, we are able to swiftly respond to our customers' most demanding requirements, wherever they are in the world," added Guy.
