Lubrizol is strengthening its innovation footprint in Southeast Asia with expanded research and development capabilities at its Singapore-based Innovation Center and the launch of Learning Labs Singapore, a STEM education initiative aimed at inspiring future scientists, engineers and innovators.
The expansion enhances the center’s synthesis, analytical and physical sciences, and formulation development capabilities, positioning it to address evolving market needs and accelerate the delivery of customer-focused solutions across Southeast Asia and beyond.
Located in Jurong, the center is an integral part of Lubrizol’s global innovation network. Established with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), it serves as a regional hub for customer collaboration, scientific advancement and technical training.
The enhanced capabilities will strengthen Lubrizol’s support for customers across a range of industries, including energy storage, coatings, electronics, packaging, life sciences and healthcare. Its laboratories, testing facilities, immersive experience zones and dedicated technical training spaces are designed to translate scientific expertise into commercially relevant solutions.
"Customers need innovation partners who can move with speed, apply deep insights and deliver market relevance," said Julie Edgar, Chief Technology Officer, Lubrizol. "Our extensive technical capabilities at the Southeast Asia Innovation Center expand our ability to translate scientific expertise into commercial solutions, helping customers solve increasingly complex challenges and accelerate the path from innovation to market impact."
Alongside the center’s expansion, Lubrizol is launching Learning Labs Singapore, extending its global STEM education initiative to nurture future scientific and engineering talent through hands-on learning, mentoring and career exploration.
The Singapore launch builds on the program’s international momentum. Since its launch in 2025, Lubrizol’s Learning Labs initiative has engaged more than 12,000 students through more than 50 STEM learning experiences worldwide.
"Innovation and talent are two of the most important drivers of long-term growth," said Henry Liu, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Lubrizol.
"We are excited to launch Learning Labs in Singapore, with the vision to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and problem-solvers. Together with our Southeast Asia laboratory network, these initiatives reflect our long-term commitment to Singapore as a hub for innovation, talent development and collaboration, supporting sustainable growth across Asia Pacific."
The twin initiatives underscore Lubrizol’s strategy of combining advanced technical capabilities with investment in future talent to support long-term growth and strengthen collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region.
EDB Executive Vice President Lim Wey-Len attended the milestone event as Guest of Honour, alongside Lubrizol President and CEO Rebecca Liebert, Chief Technology Officer Julie Edgar, other global leaders, employees, customers and industry partners.
Lim said the expansion reflects confidence in Singapore’s innovation ecosystem and its role as a platform for engaging customers across the region, while the new STEM initiative will help develop talent for the specialty chemicals sector.
“Lubrizol’s decision to expand its Southeast Asia Innovation Center reflects its confidence in Singapore as an innovation ecosystem, as well as a platform to connect with regional customers. The establishment of Lubrizol’s Learning Labs will also nurture the next generation of talent for Singapore’s growing specialty chemicals sector. We look forward to deepening our partnership with Lubrizol to capture new growth opportunities and advance innovation from Singapore for Asia and beyond,” said Lim Wey-Len, Executive Vice President, EDB.
With expanded laboratory capabilities and a new commitment to STEM education, Lubrizol is reinforcing Singapore’s role in its regional innovation strategy while strengthening its capacity to develop market-relevant solutions and cultivate the talent needed for future growth.
