Polyblend commits €4 million to boost recycled polymer production

Polyblend is investing €4 million to expand production of recycled polymer compounds at its Bad Sobernheim site, as the company moves to strengthen its position in the growing circular plastics market.
The company has taken the Final Investment Decision (FID) to convert an existing production line at the German facility, creating additional capacity for compounds incorporating mechanically recycled materials.
The upgraded line is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2027, with capacity to produce up to 15,000 tonnes of recycled-feedstock compounds annually.
The investment comes as demand for sustainable polymer solutions accelerates, particularly in the automotive sector. Polyblend said the project is designed to anticipate forthcoming European circularity requirements, including the proposed End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulation, which is expected to introduce mandatory recycled-content targets for new vehicles.
The move forms part of Polyblend’s broader circularity strategy, built around three priorities: rethinking plastic use, reducing its environmental impact, and recycling while developing circular solutions.
By repurposing existing industrial infrastructure rather than building an entirely new production line, the company said it can optimize resource use while improving investment efficiency.

The expanded production capability is expected to help Polyblend meet rising customer demand for recycled compounds while supporting efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of polymer products and strengthen circular value chains.
