Pioneering sustainable industrial logistics, INOX Air Products (INOXAP), India’s leading industrial, electronic, and specialty gases company, has unveiled the nation’s first LNG-fuelled cryogenic tanker.
This milestone marks a historic first for India’s industrial gas sector, enabled by a June 2025 amendment to the Static and Mobile Pressure Vessels (Unfired) Rules, 2016 by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce.
The cryogenic tanker is powered by a 450-litre Kryopower LNG fuel tank, manufactured by INOX India Ltd, India’s largest cryogenic equipment maker. The innovation promises a 25% reduction in CO₂ emissions, a 95% drop in particulate matter, and quieter, more efficient operations—paving the way for cleaner, cost-effective industrial logistics.
Speaking on the achievement, Siddharth Jain, Director of INOX Group, said: "INOXAP is spearheading a clean-energy shift in India’s industrial gases sector by flagging off the nation’s first LNG-fuelled cryogenic tanker—a transformative step that redefines sustainable logistics while strengthening supply chains for critical industries.
"We are grateful to DPIIT for enabling this through an extremely progressive policy amendment and PESO for necessary assistance and statutory approvals. This milestone exemplifies the powerful convergence of forward-looking policy, indigenous engineering excellence, and sustainable innovation.
"It sets a new benchmark in global engineering leadership while delivering scalable, green solutions to power India’s manufacturing ecosystem. INOXCVA’s LNG fuel tanks are already the most widely deployed in this space, and this achievement is a matter of pride that underscores the strength of synergy within the INOX Group."
This breakthrough also highlights India’s “Make in India” and “Made-in-Gujarat” spirit. Both the tanker and LNG fuel tank were designed and manufactured locally at INOXCVA’s Gujarat facilities.
The industrial gases transported will be produced in Gujarat by INOXAP and distributed primarily within the state, reinforcing a highly localized, resilient supply chain.
