Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda) anounces that it has been awarded a basic design contract by Idemitsu Kosan Co. (Idemitsu) for a large pilot solid electrolyte production facility in their Chiba Complex, with the goal of commercializing all-solid-state batteries.

Idemitsu will undertake the basic design of the facility for solid electrolytes, derived from sulfur (a byproduct of petroleum) and developed by Idemitsu over many years of research, in all-solid-state lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, under a project selected by NEDO’s ‘Green Innovation Fund Projects/Development of Next-Generation Storage Batteries and Motor Development’.

The facility will accelerate Idemitsu’s establishment of mass-production technology for solid-state electrolytes and contribute to the early launch of the all-solid-state battery market.

As an integrated engineering company, Chiyoda is engaged in a wide range of businesses aimed at socially implementing technologies that contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality, including all- solid-state batteries, and will continue contributing to the development of a sustainable society.
