Honeywell has unveiled two new logistics and warehousing solutions aimed at helping distribution centers streamline operations, reduce downtime and improve automation at scale.
These are: the Honeywell Intelligrated Momentum Core software platform and the IntelliSort Irregulars Sorter.
The engineering and automation leader says the new offerings are designed to simplify integration, expand what can be automated, and give logistics operators greater visibility and agility across their operations.
The Momentum Core software platform combines software and machine control capabilities into a single modular system that can be easily configured. It allows distribution centers to adapt automation to current needs while scaling seamlessly as operations grow.
Alongside it, the IntelliSort Irregulars Sorter targets one of logistics’ toughest challenges—handling oversized, irregular parcels that typically require manual labor and create bottlenecks.
“Adaptability and reliability are equally important mandates in today’s warehouses,” said Chad Briggs, president, Honeywell Intelligrated.
“Companies need technology that not only pivots quickly with ever-changing customer demand, but also evolves at the pace of individual businesses. Momentum Core allows supply chain customers to start with what they need today without worrying there will be a heavy lift each time they need to make a change in the future.”
Honeywell says traditional warehouse automation systems are often difficult to customize after deployment, with even small changes requiring costly engineering work or downtime.
Momentum Core is designed to change that with a more flexible, standardized approach. The company says customers can modify workflows, reporting and configurations without replatforming or heavy customization.
Key features include:
Simplified Architecture: Built on a standardized code base with an end-user accessible configuration layer.
Unified Operations: Combines warehouse execution software, warehouse control systems and machine control into a single view for monitoring, control, configuration and reporting.
System Integration: Built on the Ignition platform from Inductive Automation, enabling SCADA capabilities within a unified system designed for easier operation and upgrades.
IntelliSort targets costly “irregular” parcels
Irregular packages—such as heavy, oversized or unstable items—make up a small share of warehouse volume but drive a disproportionate amount of labor, maintenance and downtime costs.
Many facilities still rely on manual handling or semi-automated systems that can slow operations or fail under pressure.
Honeywell’s IntelliSort Irregulars Sorter is designed to automate this process. It can handle a wide range of package shapes and sizes while processing between 3,000 and 5,000 irregular parcels per hour. Its modular design allows it to integrate into existing sortation systems, helping reduce downtime, lower maintenance costs and improve throughput.
“Irregular packages can be a major roadblock for organizations, from post and parcel to 3PLs and online retailers,” Briggs added. “With the Irregulars Sorter, we are addressing a key pain point in the industry and helping the supply chain perform optimally, even as the volume and variety of these packages grows.”
