MAIRE’s Nextchem has secured a technology award for a new 3,150 metric tons per day (MTPD) urea plant in China, strengthening its position in one of the world’s key fertilizer markets.
Through its nitrogen technology licensor Stamicarbon, Nextchem was selected by a prominent international player to provide the technology license, Process Design Package and proprietary equipment for the project.
The plant will use NX STAMI Urea, Nextchem’s proprietary urea production technology, incorporating its Ultra-Low Energy (ULE) design. The technology is designed to cut steam consumption by 35% and cooling water use by 16% compared with conventional urea production methods.
The ULE design achieves these reductions through high-pressure steam utilization and an advanced pool reactor configuration, targeting greater energy efficiency and improved operational performance.
“This award confirms the value of our proprietary urea technology and our ability to support clients with high-performance solutions that combine efficiency, reliability and long-term operational excellence. We are pleased to start this collaboration and to further strengthen Nextchem’s presence in China, one of the world’s most important fertilizer markets,” said Fabio Fritelli, Managing Director of Nextchem.
The award adds to Nextchem’s growing presence in China and highlights the company’s focus on deploying energy-efficient technologies in the fertilizer sector.
