SAMSUNG E&A is stepping up its push into the LNG market, launching a new modular solution aimed at speeding up the development and construction of small- and medium-sized LNG liquefaction plants.
The company unveiled its ‘LNG Module Package’ on Sept. 16 at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, as it seeks to expand its footprint in a rapidly evolving LNG sector.
The package combines SAMSUNG E&A’s modular execution capabilities with Honeywell Technologies’ AP-SMR (Single Mixed Refrigerant) LNG Process technology. By using pre-engineered, modularized systems, the company says the solution can cut total project timelines by around 20%, from initial development through full EPC execution.
Hong Namkoong, President and CEO of SAMSUNG E&A, said, "The core competitive advantage of this package lies in combining Honeywell's proven process technology with our own modular execution capabilities to shorten project timelines and mitigate execution uncertainties.
"We will actively respond to the growing demand for modularization in LNG plants and expand our footprint in the LNG sector by strengthening client collaboration from the earliest stages of a project.”
The strategy is built around modular construction, with key equipment prefabricated in factories or yards before being assembled at the project site. That approach can reduce on-site work while improving quality control, process management and construction productivity.
SAMSUNG E&A said the new package draws on modular execution capabilities developed through numerous projects, giving the company a platform to deliver more standardized and complete LNG plant solutions.
The company is also targeting projects at the earliest development stage. Its pre-designed package is intended to give clients faster, more detailed technical and commercial information, helping accelerate project decisions while positioning SAMSUNG E&A for future EPC bidding opportunities.
The LNG push comes as the company reshapes its broader business portfolio. Earlier this year, SAMSUNG E&A reorganized its operations into Hydrocarbon, Advanced Tech and New Energy, with LNG identified as a key growth pillar within New Energy alongside Clean Energy and Water.
The company has already begun building its LNG track record, securing contracts for the basic design of an eco-friendly LNG plant in Indonesia and the conceptual design of an LNG plant in North America.
With the new modular package, SAMSUNG E&A is now seeking to turn those early wins into a broader LNG business, with small and medium-sized liquefaction projects at the center of its expansion strategy.
