Godrej Industries Group intends to create a platform that can help the cross-pollination of ideas and provide fresh impetus to the sector

August 2, the birthday of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray, is celebrated as National Chemistry Day. To commemorate the same, Godrej Industries Group will be hosting a summit in Mumbai.

Indian chemical industry is a global powerhouse, ranking sixth globally and contributing 7% to the nation’s GDP. Integral to local and global economies, innovations in the field over the years have addressed the needs of industries across various sectors. Hence through this summit which will be jointly hosted by its group companies – Godrej Chemicals and Astec LifeSciences, will bring together industry leaders, researchers, and academics. With a need to create sustainable and green solutions by leveraging science and technology, the summit aims to provide a platform to fostering thought-provoking discussions on the new trends and future of the industry

The event will feature two insightful panel discussions, highlighting key trends and opportunities in the sector in addition to the keynote address by Dr Ashish Lele, Director of CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune and Avinash Goyal, Senior Partner, McKinsey.

The discussion on green chemistry trends and their implications for sustainable development are particularly timely. At a time when the industry must balance performance, economic viability, and environmental responsibility, the ideas and insights should aid drive forward-thinking initiatives and partnerships that can transform the industry. Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword; it's a necessity for the future of our industry. This conclave provides a unique platform to explore innovative approaches that can reduce our environmental impact without compromising on performance or economic viability. To be moderated by Vishal Sharma, ED & CEO, Godrej Industries (Chemicals), the panel will witness participation from Jayen Shah, ED & CEO, Fine Organics; Dr Amit Pratap, Head - Department : Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactants Technology, ICT; Virendra R Tripathi, Head - R&D, Wipro Consumer Care; Sherluck John, General Manager and R&I, L'Oreal and Trupti Mavalankar, CTO, Fuchs Lubricants.

The second panel, to be moderated by Anurag Roy, CEO, Astec LifeSciences, will discuss India’s unique advantages and opportunities that country has to put itself on global CDMO hub. With strategic investments in R&D, quality control, and sustainable practices being the need of an hour, the panel will witness participation from Dr. Pranab Patra, Head R&D, Adama; Ravi Annavarapu, President, FMC India & SW Asia; Viswanathan Rajendran, Partner, Kearney and Prashanth Nutula, ERI Partner, Deloitte.
