Statkraft completes UK green hydrogen exit
The Norwegian renewable energy giant has sold its UK hydrogen portfolio to Kentron Green Nordic AS

Statkraft has completed the sale of its UK green hydrogen development portfolio, bringing to a close the divestment process it announced last year.
The Norwegian renewable energy giant has sold its UK hydrogen portfolio to Kentron Green Nordic AS, a Norwegian-owned company with operations in the UK. Kentron is part of a group developing wind farms and green ammonia projects, including Neptun Glomfjord Green Ammonia and Neptun Tromsø.
Statkraft has also sold its stake in Grenian Hydrogen to Foresight and Progressive Energy, its existing joint-venture partners.
The transactions complete Statkraft’s planned withdrawal from developing new green hydrogen projects in the UK.
In May 2025, Statkraft announced that it would stop developing new green hydrogen projects across all markets. It said, however, that it would continue advancing its existing mature UK projects while seeking investors to take them through construction and into operation.
With the latest transactions, the hydrogen divestment process announced in 2025 is now complete in the UK market.
Statkraft said hydrogen-related market activities will remain part of its wider portfolio. In the UK, the company will continue focusing on investment in solar, onshore wind, hydropower and grid stability services.
Statkraft describes itself as Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy and an international leader in hydropower. The group operates across 20 countries and employs around 6,200 people.
