Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has entered into a major renewable energy pact with Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions, securing hybrid wind-solar power for its manufacturing facilities in Dahej and Vadodara.
The landmark project will combine 75.90 MW of wind capacity and 84.34 MWp of solar capacity, with 100% of the power generated dedicated to GACL under a group captive arrangement.
The move marks a significant step in the company's decarbonisation strategy and strengthens its commitment to cleaner, more sustainable industrial operations.
Spread across four CleanMax renewable energy sites in Gujarat—Kalikanagar, Aji Dahisarda, Rajula and Ghuntu—the project is expected to generate approximately 36.9 crore units of clean electricity annually.
The renewable power generated is projected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 2.64 lakh tonnes every year, delivering an environmental benefit equivalent to planting around 15.27 million trees annually.
The project will be executed in two phases. Phase 1 will include 16.50 MW of wind capacity and 21.701 MWp of solar capacity, while Phase 2 will add 59.40 MW of wind capacity and 62.64 MWp of solar capacity.
Upon commissioning, the facilities will supply hybrid renewable energy directly to GACL's manufacturing units in line with agreed contractual timelines.
The partnership comes as energy-intensive industries face growing pressure to reduce emissions while maintaining operational efficiency. For GACL, a key player in India's chlor-alkali sector, renewable energy offers both sustainability gains and long-term cost advantages through improved price visibility and energy security.
CleanMax, meanwhile, continues to expand its footprint as a renewable energy provider to industrial customers. As of March 31, 2026, the company had approximately 844 MW of operational renewable energy capacity in Gujarat, positioning it to support large-scale industrial transitions to clean power.
The agreement also marks a milestone for CleanMax.
Avantika Singh of GACL, said, "At GACL, sustainability is a central pillar of our long-term growth strategy. We are producers of chlor-alkali chemicals & manufacturing products with derivatives used across industries including textiles, paper, alumina, pharmaceuticals and water treatment.
"As one of India's leading chemical manufacturers, we are committed to adopting responsible and environmentally conscious practices across our operations. Our partnership with CleanMax enables us to integrate hybrid renewable energy into our power mix, strengthening energy reliability while advancing our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes."
Kuldeep Jain, Founder and Managing Director, Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited, said, "Our partnership with GACL demonstrates how large manufacturing companies can transition to renewable energy at scale while maintaining operational reliability.
"This also marks the single largest group captive deal for Clean Max. Gujarat remains a key market for CleanMax given its strong industrial base and favorable renewable energy resources, and we are proud to support leading companies like GACL in their net-zero journey."
The collaboration underscores the accelerating adoption of renewable energy across India's industrial sector and highlights Gujarat's growing role as a hub for large-scale clean energy deployment.
