Evonik has achieved a major sustainability milestone with the ISCC Plus certification of its precipitated silica plant in Adapazarı, Turkey, marking the company’s first certified silica production site in the EMEA region.

The certification clears the way for commercial production of ULTRASIL eCO, Evonik’s circular silica manufactured in line with recognized mass balance standards.

The move expands the company’s portfolio of certified circular silica products and strengthens its ability to support tire and rubber manufacturers seeking to reduce the environmental footprint of their supply chains without sacrificing product performance.

“With ULTRASIL eCO, we are delivering regional circular silica solutions at scale. The ISCC Plus certification of our Adapazarı site strengthens the resilience and sustainability of our global silica network,” says Anna Kunze, Global Marketing Director for Tire at Evonik’s Smart Effects business line.

The Adapazarı certification represents a significant step in Evonik’s strategy to scale circular materials production and meet growing demand for sustainable industrial solutions across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“This milestone demonstrates both our technological capability and our commitment to scaling credible circular solutions across regions,” adds Roland Krafczyk, Global Head Applied Technology for Tire & Oral at Smart Effects. “It reinforces Evonik’s role as a trusted partner for customers seeking certified pathways to more sustainable materials.”

The certification was secured through close cooperation between Evonik’s sustainability specialists and the Adapazarı plant team, ensuring full compliance with ISCC Plus standards. Beyond enabling large-scale circular silica production in EMEA, the achievement is expected to strengthen supply security and further enhance Evonik’s sustainable silica offering for global customers.
