INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has launched INEOS LowINCO₂, a new range of low-carbon olefins and polymers with a carbon footprint up to 50% below the European industry average.
The launch marks a significant step in INEOS’ efforts to help customers reduce the carbon footprint of their products and accelerate progress towards sustainability targets. The company expects to lower the footprint further when its €5 billion Project ONE ethane cracker in Antwerp comes online.
Built on INEOS’ low-carbon olefins production, the LowINCO₂ certification covers the company’s full range of olefins and polymers produced across its European network.
The materials are designed to help customers reduce Scope 3 emissions across their value chains, supporting industries under growing pressure to deliver high-performance products with a lower environmental impact.
Applications span a broad range of essential sectors, including lightweight transport components, water and gas distribution pipes, medical and healthcare products, consumer technology and electronics, food and beverage packaging, and construction materials. These markets demand materials that deliver proven durability, safety and reliability while meeting increasingly stringent sustainability expectations.
“INEOS LowINCO₂ sets a new standard for low-carbon solutions, serving the unique needs of European brands and customers who face some of the world’s most demanding environmental requirements,” said Liz Rittweger, CEO of INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe. “It gives customers the tools to meet those requirements, reduce their carbon footprint and develop more sustainable products.”
INEOS expects the carbon footprint of its products to fall further when Project ONE, its new ethane cracker in Antwerp, begins operations. The company describes the €5 billion project as Europe’s most sustainable cracker, designed to set new benchmarks for efficiency and environmental performance.
The launch of LowINCO₂ also strengthens INEOS O&P Europe’s wider sustainability offering. Its portfolio includes the Recycl IN hybrid polymer range, which contains high levels of mechanically recycled plastic, advanced recycling capabilities, bio-attributed products and multilayer machine-direction-oriented (MDO) film technology designed to support recyclable mono-material packaging.
With LowINCO₂, INEOS is expanding the options available to European customers seeking to reduce product-related emissions without compromising the performance and reliability required for critical applications.
