Chemanol inks licensing agreement for methyl diethanolamine project

The project, with a production capacity of 25,000 metric tons annually, is expected to commence operations in Q4 2027

Methanol Chemicals Company (Chemanol) has signed a technical licensing agreement with a foreign technology provider for the production of Methyl Diethanolamine (MDEA).

The production capacity of the project which initial operation is expected to commence during the fourth quarter of 2027 is 25 thousand metric tons per year.

MethylDiethanolamine (MDEA) and its specialized compounds are used in many vital and strategic industries such as oil & gas Industry, extraction of environmental harmful gases and carbon capture and storage technologies.

The project aims to enhance the local production of specialized Chemicals, and reduce dependence on imports, specifically in the oil and gas sector.

It is worth mentioning that the financial impact of the project is currently indeterminable until all financial and technical studies are finalized and depending on the market variables prevailing at the time of starting operation.
