Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG Group) has decided to expand its production facility for OPL Film products, optical polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) film, at Mitsubishi Chemical’s Central Japan-Ogaki (Kanda) Plant in Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.

The upgraded facility is scheduled to go into operation in the second half of FY2027. MCG will add 27 million square meters per year taking the total to 154 million square meters per year.

OPL Film products are mainly used for polarizing plates for use in televisions and other liquid crystal displays. With the increase in the size of liquid crystal display screens, demand for OPL Film products is also increasing. In this market environment, the MCG Group has decided to expand its production facility to meet the growing demand and requirements for higher quality.

The new production facility will feature high quality as well as higher productivity compared to conventional facilities. It will have the largest single-line production capacity in the MCG Group, at 27 million square meters per year.

After completion, the total production capacity of the MCG Group is expected to be 154 million square meters per year.
