Tosoh to shut down sodium sulfate business

Tosoh plan to cease its production of sodium sulfate by the end of September 2024

  • By ICN Bureau | December 03, 2023

Asia’s largest chlor-alkali manufacturer Tosoh Corporation announces that it will cease its production and sale of sodium sulfate.

Tosoh launched its production of sodium sulfate in 1988 and ever since has been committed to ensuring a stable supply of and to expanding its business operations for that product. The business environment for sodium sulfate, however, has become increasingly challenging in recent years.

Despite Tosoh’s efforts to enhance the profitability of its sodium sulfate business, including various business reforms and price adjustments, the company foresees no improvement in the product’s business environment.

Tosoh has therefore decided to exit from the sodium sulfate business and plans to cease its production of sodium sulfate by the end of September 2024.
