EnviTec Biogas lands 3 first-time German customers with new EnviThan projects

The 1,000 Nm³/h biomethane plant is slated to begin feeding into the local network in July 2026

EnviTec Biogas has scored three new contracts with first-time customers in Germany, expanding its footprint in Bavaria, Bremen, and Saxony-Anhalt. All projects involve gas upgrading plants that will be manufactured at EnviTec’s Saerbeck facility in the coming months.

The project in Biburg, Lower Bavaria, marks the company’s debut in the Bavarian market, following the construction of 112 plants across Germany. “The customer already operates a gas upgrading plant using water scrubbing technology, which will be decommissioned once our EnviThan upgrading plant has been installed,” said Christian Eilert, EnviTec Biogas Area Sales Manager DACH.

Benedikt Bachmeier of Bioenergie Biburg recalled the long journey to the deal: “Nearly two years passed between our first contact at the Biogas Convention & Trade Fair in Nuremberg in 2023 and the signing of the contract – two years marked by political uncertainties, constantly changing market conditions and lengthy permitting procedures.”

The 1,000 Nm³/h biomethane plant is slated to begin feeding into the local network in July 2026. “A key advantage of this project is that we are also supplying the booster compressor required to achieve the necessary grid pressure. This allowed us to significantly accelerate the overall grid injection process,” Eilert added.

The EnviThan plant impressed customers with its low power consumption and customised design. “Given the structural constraints of the existing biogas plant, space on site is limited. However, our flexible container-based construction enables us to accommodate the conditions effectively,” Eilert explained.

In Osterholz-Scharmbeck near Bremen, EnviTec is building a gas upgrading plant for Hamme Energie GmbH & Co. KG as an extension to the existing facility. The 137 Nm³/h EnviThan plant, currently under construction in Saerbeck, can be upgraded onsite to 232 Nm³/h by adding membranes. The biomethane produced will feed into the network of Osterholzer Stadtwerke and is sourced from dairy cattle slurry, cattle manure, and silage maize from the company’s own farming operations.

The third contract, in Reichardtswerben, Saxony-Anhalt, is for a Dutch operator of a large dairy farming enterprise. The plant can expand from 200 Nm³/h to 400 Nm³/h and will supply biomethane to the Ontras network for the fuel market. “For this project as well, we have already ordered all components and can begin production as soon as the container arrives,” Eilert said.
