The HOYER Group, a global leader in logistics solutions for liquid goods, has unveiled a major new facility at Covestro’s Integrated Site Shanghai, marking a milestone in its long-standing partnership with the chemical giant.
The facility, officially opened in November, will handle filling and storage of MDI in drums and IBC totes, as well as oversee the entire logistical process.
Planned and constructed by Covestro, the cutting-edge facility boasts four fully automated drum filling systems, three temperature-controlled warehouses with ammonia refrigeration, a central control room, and an office building with expanded administrative functions.
At the heart of the operation is a modern control room, staffed 24/7 to monitor all technical and logistical processes. Joseph Gao, Startup Manager of the MDI Logistics Project, said, “With the new facility at our Shanghai Integrated Site, we are showcasing advanced automated systems and digital innovation with locally-adapted technologies that ensure reliable MDI production.”
HOYER’s local team played a critical role in commissioning the facility. “Our local team contributed to the successful commissioning with great commitment and expertise,” added Leo Zhang, Senior Manager Operations in the HOYER Group.
Employees on site receive comprehensive training to operate the new systems, conduct leakage tests, maintain technical documentation, and oversee step-by-step commissioning.
JianJun Fu, Deputy Production Manager in the HOYER Group, emphasized, “The technical implementation and commissioning of the new control room was a demanding task. We are all the more pleased that the processes are now running smoothly and that we can contribute to a safe, secure supply chain.”
HOYER has served Covestro at the Shanghai site since 2016, and the successful commissioning of this new facility coincides with a contract extension, reinforcing the partnership’s ongoing growth.
