Global fragrances, flavours, cosmetic ingredients, and nutritional solutions company Symrise is stepping into COP30 with bold climate action and biodiversity initiatives, highlighting the power of digital innovation, cross-sector collaboration, and practical solutions.

At the TED Countdown session, Symrise and partner CO2 AI launched the Houston platform, a groundbreaking digital tool that measures carbon footprints at both product and corporate levels. Designed to deliver real-time insights, the platform allows companies to track emissions, prioritize interventions, and ensure regulatory compliance—bringing precision and transparency to decarbonization efforts.

“Launching the Houston platform marks a milestone in our decarbonization journey,” said Dr Isabella Tonaco, Chief Sustainability Officer at Symrise. “It provides one carbon accounting language for both corporate and product purposes, empowering teams and partners to make data-driven decisions with confidence.”

Symrise also co-chaired the Sustainable Business Bioeconomy Working Group, bringing private-sector perspectives to the COP30 solutions agenda. The company’s work promotes climate action, biodiversity, and social progress through inclusive sourcing programs and circular technologies, turning proven pilots into scalable practices.

Further cementing its commitment, Symrise engaged in the BMZ/GIZ Combú Island dialogue, joining global stakeholders—including the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development—to strengthen Brazil-Germany public-private partnerships under the “Bridging the Gap” initiative. The programme supports local Amazon communities through deforestation-free, traceable value chains and regenerative agriculture.

"Our partnerships with Symrise and Natura show how inclusive business models deliver results—bringing indigenous and local products to market, stabilizing incomes, and empowering the guardians of the Amazon,” said Reem Alabali Radovan, German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Additionally, Symrise signed a letter of intent with Deutsche Bank and industry partners to mobilize funding for rainforest protection in Honduras and Suriname, demonstrating how climate, nature, and social progress can align with practical outcomes.

"COP30 is about scaling what works,” said Dr. Stephanie Cossmann, Symrise Executive Board Member for HR, Legal, and Sustainability. “At Symrise, biodiversity is fundamental to our business. We act with purpose to reduce global emissions and protect our planet for future generations.”
