BASF is doubling down on India.

The chemicals giant has announced a major new Global Service Hub in Hyderabad set to go live in the second quarter of 2026—tightening the company’s grip on global operations and signaling strong confidence in the city’s rising strategic clout.

The company revealed the move at a press briefing in Hyderabad, formalized with the handover of a Letter of Intent to Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

The hub will operate under “BASF Global Business Services Private Limited,” expanding the company’s worldwide service delivery network and anchoring critical Finance and HR functions in India.

Hyderabad beat out multiple locations after a rigorous evaluation process, emerging as BASF’s pick for its deep talent pool and robust ecosystem.

“With the opening of our Global Service Hub in Hyderabad, we are creating a strong foundation for the future of Global Business Services,” said Tobias Dratt, President of Global Business Services at BASF. “Hyderabad offers the right ecosystem and talent base to support scalable, high-quality services for BASF’s businesses worldwide.”

The move is expected to bring a wave of high-skilled jobs as BASF ramps up hiring in phases, building a workforce geared toward complex global operations. The new hub will join BASF’s existing service centers in Berlin, Kuala Lumpur, and Montevideo—further tightening integration across regions.

For Telangana, the announcement reinforces Hyderabad’s growing reputation as a powerhouse for both life sciences and digital innovation.

“This announcement reflects the growing global confidence in Telangana as a trusted hub for critical enterprise functions. BASF’s decision to establish its Global Business Services presence in Hyderabad builds on the city’s globally recognized leadership in life sciences.

"As home to one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and vaccine ecosystems, alongside a rapidly advancing IT & AI base, Hyderabad offers a powerful combination of scientific depth and digital capability.

"With strong research infrastructure, global industry presence, and a highly skilled talent pool, Telangana is positioning itself as a strategic hub for integrated life sciences and technology operations at scale”, said Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

The hub will power a wide range of core functions—from finance and HR to supply chain, regulatory, and in-house consulting—acting as a backbone for BASF’s global business engine. The company says the focus will be on digital enablement, standardized processes, and operational efficiency.

The announcement follows closely on the heels of another major investment: BASF’s Global Digital Hub, also in Hyderabad. Together, the twin hubs mark a significant expansion of the company’s footprint in India.

“The establishment of both Global Hubs in Hyderabad marks a significant milestone and opens a new chapter in BASF’s long-standing presence in India. Building on our strong manufacturing and research and development footprint, this step directly supports our ‘Winning Ways’ strategy and strengthens our global capabilities.

"With both our Global Business Services and Global Digital Services operating in Hyderabad, we’ll be able to harness shared strengths and collaboration opportunities, further reinforcing the city’s growing strategic importance within BASF’s global network,” said Alexander Gerding, Managing Director, BASF India Limited & Head – BASF Group Companies in India.

With hiring set to ramp up and operations expanding steadily, BASF’s latest move positions Hyderabad not just as a support center—but as a critical nerve center in its global enterprise strategy.
