The Board of Directors of Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has greenlit a significant capital expenditure plan for the installation of two biofuel/coal fired boilers at Vadodara and Dahej complex as well as  33,870 TPA (85% H3PO4) food grade phosphoric acid plant.

GACL announced the installation of two biofuel/coal fired boilers each at Vadodara and Dahej Complex (total 4 boilers) with aggregate estimated cost of Rs.390 crore. These installations will substantially reduce the cost of steam, generate ~ 12 MW power and thus reduce overall cost of production.

The company will also install a new facility at the Dahej complex with a capacity of 33,870 TPA (85% H3PO4). The estimated project cost is Rs. 560 crore (±5%), with projected additional annual revenues of up to Rs. 350 crore.

The board also approved enhancing caustic potash (KOH) production from 120 TPD to 200 TPD at the Vadodara complex for an estimated Rs. 80 crore.  This capacity enhancement will lead to net expected increase in annual revenue of Rs.130 crore at current market price.
