Huntsman Corporation has officially marked the grand opening of its expanded performance products facility in Petfurdo, Hungary, following the start of operations earlier this year.

The expansion boosts the company’s global production capacity and brings advanced technologies to the polyurethane, coatings, metalworking, and electronics sectors.

A global leader in amine catalysts with more than 50 years in urethane chemicals, Huntsman has seen strong demand for its JEFFCAT catalysts, which are used in everyday items like automobile seats, mattresses, and energy‑efficient building insulation.

The company’s enhanced portfolio aims to help industries save energy, cut emissions, and reduce odors in consumer products.

"This new capacity builds on our long‑standing investments in Performance Products and strengthens our ability to support customers in fast‑growing and evolving markets," said Jan Buberl, President of Huntsman Performance Products.

"The expansion unit enhances our manufacturing flexibility, enables next‑generation products and reflects our continued focus on sustainability, operational excellence and long‑term value creation. As demand grows for cleaner, more efficient solutions, this investment positions us to respond with speed, innovation and reliability."

The project received an investment grant from the Hungarian government, signaling strong community support. Officials joined the opening ceremony, highlighting the region’s economic potential.

"We greatly appreciate the support of the Hungarian government and value the strong partnership that helped bring this project to completion," Buberl added. "We look forward to continuing our collaboration as we advance economic development and manufacturing excellence in Hungary."
