Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) and Fourth Partner Energy Pvt. Ltd. (FPEL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore renewable energy generation and supply solutions for commercial and industrial customers across MGL’s operational regions.
The agreement brings together one of India’s leading city gas distribution companies and a major renewable energy developer to assess and develop clean energy options aligned with India’s accelerating transition toward low-carbon growth.
Under the MoU, the two companies will collaborate on identifying and evaluating opportunities in renewable energy generation and supply, combining their respective strengths to meet the evolving energy needs of business consumers seeking more sustainable alternatives.
Announcing the partnership, MGL emphasized its strategic push beyond conventional gas distribution into broader clean energy offerings.
“This collaboration with FPEL reflects MGL’s continued focus on expanding its clean energy portfolio and contributing towards sustainable development through innovative and environmentally friendly energy solutions.
"MGL is already a provider of cleaner fuel to industries and commercial establishments, and this collaboration will enable MGL to explore and offer clean energy solutions to its customers. We believe this initiative will further strengthen our commitment towards sustainable energy and support our customers in reducing their carbon footprint.”
From FPEL’s side, the focus is on accelerating integrated energy solutions as Indian businesses move toward decarbonisation and diversified power sourcing.
“The global energy landscape is evolving fast with decarbonisation at its core. Indian corporates are racing to adopt an integrated energy portfolio spanning renewable power, battery storage, procurement flexibility and advance management capabilities instead of relying on the traditional grid alone to meet their requirements.
"This partnership with MGL will help us jointly deliver reliable, cost-effective, low carbon solutions to businesses and we are excited to take a first step towards it via this MoU today”.
The collaboration is expected to support commercial and industrial customers in accessing cleaner, more flexible energy solutions as demand rises for sustainable power alternatives in India’s rapidly evolving energy market.
